TRAFFORD MENCAP ON THE MOVE THANKS TO £10,000 FUNDING FROM SOCIETY

Trafford Mencap has some new wheels thanks to a £10,000 donation from Yorkshire Building Society.

Yorkshire Building Society pledged the donation during its 150th anniversary last year and Trafford Mencap, based in Altrincham, was one of 15 chosen by members of the public to receive the cash boost from the Society’s Lasting Legacy Fund.Yorkshire Building Society colleagues with Trafford Mencap staff and service users with their new minibus (7) (1)

Trafford Mencap has used the £10,000 to fund a new suitably adapted minibus, which is enabling its elderly and physically disabled members to access activities in the community.

Noeleen Kearns, Community Fundraiser for Trafford Mencap, said: “We were thrilled that our project was chosen to be funded as part of the Yorkshire Building Society Lasting Legacy Fund. The minibus is great for all our service users and allows us to offer the opportunity for them to be involved in more activities and is making a real difference to our community.”

Amanda Allwood, Manager at the Manchester branch of Yorkshire Building Society, said: “We were delighted to be able to support the Trafford Mencap project and it was great to see the benefits the minibus is already bringing to the charity. On our visit to see the new minibus we also had the chance to preseYorkshire Building Society colleagues with Trafford Mencap staff and service users with their new minibus (15) (1)nt them with their Lasting Legacy Fund award.”
